Sexy Bitch : JENNY LEWIS

Ok, so with the exception of 'The Next Messiah', Jenny Lewis' newish album Acid Tongue is kinda crappy. But let's remember that Rabbit Fur Coat was awesome and, of course, Rilo have their moments.

Regardless of all of this, there's no denying that she's one hot betch:

Hero spotlight: OLIVIER ZAHM

Is there anything this man can't do?
Just to give the brief rundown:

* Art critic for Artforum, Flash Art, Art Press and Texte Zur Kunst during the 1980s and early 1990s.

* Renowned curator and has worked with over 150 exhibitions of contemporary art throughout the world, including institutions like PS1, MoMA, and Centre Pompidou [1].

*In 1992, he founded Purple Prose magazine (1992 - 1998) with Elein Fleiss, and the publication has created spin-offs like Purple Fiction (1992 - 1998), Purple Sexe (1998 - 2001), Purple magazine (1998 - 2003), Purple Journal (2004 - present), Purple Fashion (1995 - 1998, 2004 - present), and Purple Books, a publishing house [2].

* Since 2004, Zahm is editor in chief of Purple Fashion, a biannual magazine attempting to bridge the worlds of art and fashion. Zahm and Fleiss also run the Paris-based think tank Purple Institute, an art direction society and consulting company aimed at creating links between the art world and industry[4].

* Directed the Spring 2007 Yves Saint Laurent Homme campaign. [5]

* The first installation of Purple’s new online presence was launched on Monday, February 16th 2009. http://purple-diary.com can be considered as the extension of the magazine but as a digital voice that offers immediate access to the world of Purple — including Olivier Zahm’s personal pictures

This blog is crazy awesome. Definitely one of my favourites. Although most of the time it leaves me writhing in envy for the fabulous life this man has: Screwing a model at Lit Lounge NYC one day, sitting at the Chanel table in Paris the next.
All photographed. All exposed.
But this is the world we live in now, isn't it?

Time Keeps On Slipping...

I'm so jealous of designers that actually have time to do fashion illustrations before sampling.
Here are some of my favourites, although I suspect there is an entire culture of artists who simply create an artistic interpretation of printed campaigns, shoots and other designer's collections. Not that there's anything wrong with that. God knows I'd love to do that all day!

Sorry no credits have been given, as I am lazy to the extreeeme.

Lest We Forget : RICHEY EDWARDS

Genuine Rock Star.
Wow, it's been 14 years now.
The following article is 7 years old:
"It is seven years ago today that the Manic Street Preachers troubled guitarist Richey Edwards vanished, and, as his body has never been found, he can be declared legally dead.So was he another rock n roll suicide and did his act of self-mutilation at a Norwich venue signal a slide into depression and ultimately his death?
The rather eerie, crypt-like Norwich Arts Centre would not feature in a list of rocks most legendary landmarks. It was, however, in the converted church in St Benedicts Street, that one of rock n rolls most infamous and horrifying photographs was captured, in all its gruesome detail.
Moments earlier, Richey Edwards, then guitarist and songwriter with the Manic Street Preachers, had, in the middle of an interview with NMEs Steve Lamacq, produced a razor blade from his pocket and gouged his arm, creating the blood-splattered message 4 Real.
The distressing picture, which has been voted number 16 in Q magazines Top 100 Rock Photographs Of All Time, shows the ethereal Edwards clutching a rolled up bandage in his hand and baring the full and terrible extent of his self-mutilation.
What adds to the pictures discomfiting, but strangely transfixing quality is that less than four years later, the deeply troubled Edwards had disappeared, believed to have thrown himself into the waters of the River Severn.
He has never been found. ...."

Permanently annoying.
