What I Did On The Weekend - NYFW Fashion's Night Out
Good Lord, I can't find any good footage of it!! And it doesn't even come close to covering what was really going on on the street!!
Ok so we didn't really do that much 'myah-myah' fashioning, but me and my gurrl L, did have a lovely dinner in Soho, then battled through the crowd to the Agent Provocateur Autumn launch on Mercer.
It was pretty cool, free champagne and cocktails, obligitory 'stylin dj',
Human mannequin in the window filming the crowd.
Oh and some of the pieces were to die for - i.e
Aaaanywho, it was FUN! but we did spend most of the night getting drunk at Niagra. As we should.
SIGGHH... NYC I miss you already!!!

Dear Chicago
I think I've found a potential new home.
I just described it on Facebook as a heavily tattood version of Sesame Street with more potential for drive-bys.
Although I haven't had much time here, I already know that I love it. I get an immediate sense of the 'real America' that everyone keeps preaching about. I get it now, L.A and New York expect you to be from out of town. Everything in those 2 cities is tailored toward that. Chicago is different, although it's probably because I'm only staying/hanging out in Wicker Park and not the city, I haven't heard ONE foreign accent!! Especially no Australian ones which is a welcome change after being in Santa Monica. Blerrghh.
One thing I really love about Chicago is that nobody is pretending to have money. At least not in this neighbourhood. That's kinda annoyed me about America in the past, they want you to spend spend spend, and get in more debt debt debt like it's a good thing. It ain't like that here, in fact I heard a girl say today "$3 for a soda!? Get the fuck outta here, I'mma give you a buck fifty and you gonna take it mmm hm"
OH YEAH! AND IT IS FUCKING WINDY!!

A Fog Has Come Over Los Angeles.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Shoes, Oh My God, Shoes.
I love when stuff gets delivered to work while I'm out and it's on my desk when I get back.
Just in time too, introducing my new shopping sheos: Austen Florals by Jeffrey Campbell in collaboration with Pixie Market.
I might be generally anti-floral movement, but floral shoes I could definitely get down with.
better throw this in for good measure...

Your Time Will Come
Guess have never really changed their styling.
They've been doing their 'All American Throw-back Glamour' since forever. Well at least since their height of popularity in the late 80s/early 90s.
It's proof that if you stick with something it will finally come back around. Sure, their actual clothes are just as uninspiring and trashy as they always were, but at least the styling is on the money.
The back-combing alone in this shoot is to die for.
I'm gonna start rockin' all of this hair and makeup as soon as I can be bothered.

Pretty Great
Not that I particularly like the clothes, but I love it when people fuck with menswear.
The image above-right is also one of the coolest shots I've ever seen in a Lookbook.

Manic Street Preachers tour Australia!!
I actually can't begin to describe how important this band really is.
Most people remember them for their only 'hit' outside of the UK: 'If You Tolerate This,Your Children Will Be Next' in the late 90s. But in actual fact, this song was released well after the band were in their absolute prime.
More importantly, it was long after the mysterious disappearance of genius lyricist, fake guitarist and depressive dreamboat Richey Edwards in 1995.
The Manics were so important because they mixed the intellectualism and DIY punk of the Clash with the glamour of the New York Dolls, and set it all to the narrative of writers like Sylvia Plath, Harold Pinter, Albert Camus and Bret Easton Ellis. Not to mention a moral backbone of some good ol' Socialist politics.
But they were writing and performing for a new generation than that of their influences. This is is the MTV generation incarnate. The Manics never strayed from 'culture, alienation, boredom and despair'. Their frustration with their peers 'going nowhere fast', spurred them on to inspire others to follow the age old philosophy that KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.
Anyway, the point is, they are finally coming back to Australia AND I HAVE A TICKET!
I highly recommend you do the same, or at least read 'EVERYTHING' by Simon Price, one of the most fascinating biographies you will EVER read.
And one of my favourites (When James was even HOTTER! Why oh why did he eat all the pies!?)

I leave you with the best video everrrr. THIS IS THEIR PRIME!! THIS IS WHEN I WISH I SAW THEM!! (when James Dean Bradfield was HOTTTTT)
I especially love this highest rated comment from Youtube on this vid:
"We talked about this song during philosophy class! The teacher explained us that the lyrics are inspired by Nietzsche's philosophy: i.e. "Dionysus against the crucified" refers to the nickname used by Nietzsche in some of his writings (Dionysus) and to his critical attitude towards religion. "Find your truth, face your truth, speak your truth, be your truth" is clearly referred to Nietzsche's nihilism (western culture, its morals, myths, are just lies, you have to find and face the real truth)"

Hero Spotlight: CHRISSY AMPHLETT
Sighhhh... I just wanna be her so badly.
When I was growing up I could barely even watch Divinyls videos. There was something about her that was so aggressive, wild and über-sexual that I could hardly look at the screen! Granted I was a child at the time, but sheesh, I can only imagine how guys felt!
I heard her described the other day as one of the the most attractive yet intimidating women who have ever existed. I guess it's that intimidation which is so attractive. You see someone acting as wild as this and you wanna be the person that they're loco about!
Regardless, now that I'm all grown up, I can only dream of being so intimidating.
